On the road
Three things about single-track roads.
The Highlands have many roads one car wide. They are beautiful and easy to drive once you know three rules.
Passing places
A diamond sign marks a passing place. Stop at the one on your side and let the other car by.
Fill up and charge early
In the far north fuel stations can be 40 miles apart. The route card marks every pump and charger.
Book the ferry ahead
In summer the island ferries fill weeks ahead. Tell us when you are heading to an island, it is allowed.
Pick the route, then the car.
The free days of every car class are on the cars page. Booking takes a couple of minutes.
